TRANSPORTATION, ARRIVAL, AND DISMISSAL

When dropping off your child, you are requested to enter the one way drive and stop near the front door.  A staff member will assist your child from the car.  At other times, please part in a designated spot and escort your child inside.  At the 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM dismissals, your child will be escorted to your car by a staff member.  Please park in a spot or pull all the way around the loop drive close the exit and wait in your car.  Children attending either the half or full day program must be signed in and out each day.  You will be asked to fill out a pick-up list for your child. No one other than those on the list will be allowed to pick up your child at school.

SAFETY
Periodic fire and storm safety drills are held to familiarize children and staff with appropriate emergency procedures. Our school is equipped with a state-of-the-art smoke and heat detection system monitored by a central station 24 hours a day. Our school has a limited access lock on the door. If there is a court order affecting your child, we require a certified copy of the court order to abide by it.

HEALTH
All necessary health forms must be signed by a physician and returned to the office prior to the child's admittance to school.  Please make sure to inform us if your child has any food allergies.  In order for us to dispense medication, it must be in its original container from the pharmacy and the parent must sign it in every day.

LUNCH AND SNACKS
All students receive a snack (AM and PM).  We serve only natural fruit juices and low sugar snacks (pretzels, crackers, cereal). Sometimes we prepare our snack (pudding, spaghetti, pizza, muffins, applesauce, and vegetable soup).  We provide milk at lunch and will microwave food that needs heating.  Please send disposable forks or spoons with your child any day your child's lunch requires their use.  Label each thermos, plastic container, and lunch box your child brings to school.  Lunch is available for a small fee.

DISCIPLINE
Discipline is handled in a positive manner, encouraging self control and learning to problem-solve conflicts peacefully. If an inappropriate or dangerous behavior persists, a child may be isolated from the group for a short 2-3 minute “time-out” period to reflect on the behavior and re-adjust their actions. Clear limits and rules are set at the beginning of the year and the reasons for the rules explained.  Our staff employs techniques designed to call attention to appropriate behaviors and to re-direct the child to a more acceptable activity if necessary.
